How to download your Spotify extended streaming history

To download your full Spotify listening history, sign in at spotify.com/account/privacy in a web browser, tick "Extended streaming history", press "Request data" and confirm the email Spotify sends you. Spotify emails a download link when the file is ready, which it says can take up to 30 days. The zip, my_spotify_data.zip, contains every stream since your account was created.

What is Spotify's extended streaming history?

It's a set of JSON files listing every stream on your account: the date and time it ended, how many milliseconds you listened, the track, artist and album, the device, the country you were connected from, whether shuffle was on, and why the track started and stopped. Podcasts and video are included too.

Spotify offers three downloads on its privacy page. Only Extended streaming history goes back to the start of your account. Account data has a 1-year listening file, and Technical log information isn't useful here.

How do I request it?

  1. Open Spotify's privacy page in a browser

    Go to spotify.com/account/privacy and sign in. Use a computer or your phone's web browser; the Spotify app doesn't show this page.

  2. Tick Extended streaming history

    Scroll down to Download your data. Tick Select Extended streaming history. You can leave Account data unticked.

  3. Press Request data

    Spotify shows a message that your request has started and sends a confirmation email.

  4. Confirm the email

    Open the email from Spotify, subject "Confirm your data request", and press Confirm. The request doesn't start until you do. Check your spam folder if it hasn't arrived after a few minutes.

  5. Wait for the download email

    When the export is ready, Spotify emails you a download link. The link works for 14 days.

  6. Download the zip and upload it here

    The file is called my_spotify_data.zip. Don't unzip it; upload the whole zip to depth.fm.

What's inside the zip?

A folder called Spotify Extended Streaming History containing:

  • Streaming_History_Audio_2015.json, Streaming_History_Audio_2016.json and so on. Busy years are split into several files, such as Streaming_History_Audio_2024.json and Streaming_History_Audio_2024_1.json.
  • Streaming_History_Video_2024.json and similar, if you've watched video on Spotify.
  • ReadMeFirst_ExtendedStreamingHistory.pdf, Spotify's description of the fields.

Older exports (before 2023) used names like endsong_0.json instead. depth.fm reads both.

How long does it take?

Spotify's stated maximum is 30 days. There's nothing you can do to speed it up, and asking again restarts the clock. If you don't want to keep checking, ask us to email you in 30 days.

Troubleshooting

I only got a 1-year file

If your zip has a folder called Spotify Account Data with StreamingHistory_music_0.json, you requested Account data, not the extended history. That file covers about the last 12 months. Go back to the privacy page and tick Extended streaming history. You can upload the 1-year file in the meantime.

My zip has no Audio files

Open the zip and look for the Spotify Extended Streaming History folder. If it only has Streaming_History_Video_ files, the audio part is missing; request the data again. If there's no such folder at all, you downloaded Account data instead.

I have more than one zip

Upload each one. Streams that appear in more than one file are recognised and counted once.

The upload says the file is too large

The limit is 500 MB. Extended history exports are usually 5 to 150 MB. If yours is bigger, check you haven't zipped other files in with it.

Questions people ask

How far back does Spotify's extended streaming history go?
To the day your account was created. The export used for testing this guide starts in January 2015 and runs to the week it was requested.
Is the extended history the same as Spotify Wrapped?
No. Wrapped covers roughly January to October of one year and shows a few top lists. The extended history is the raw record of every stream, with the time, how long you listened, the device and how the track ended.
How long does Spotify take to send it?
Spotify says up to 30 days. As of September 2026 many requests arrive within a few days, but there's no way to speed it up.
Does the export include my IP address?
Yes, every stream has an ip_addr field. depth.fm discards it while reading the file, before anything is saved.
Can I upload the 1-year "Account data" file instead?
Yes, but it only covers about the last 12 months, rounds times to the minute and has no skip, device or country information. Upload it now if you like; when the extended history arrives, upload that too and the two merge without counting anything twice.
How many hours have I listened to Spotify in total?
Only the extended history can tell you. Spotify's app and Wrapped show a year at most. Once you upload the zip, depth.fm adds up every millisecond played since your first stream.
